Abstract

The objective of this proposal is to replace ageing and obsolete HPLC equipment in the School with a state of the art facility, which will not only underpin research in the arthropod endocrinology Group, but will also meet the diverse requirements, both in the present and future, of other groups within SBS (Cell and Molecular, Plant and Ecology). The high specification of this equipment includes new detection technologies, which are not currently available in the school (i.e. Diode array, electrochemical, switchable fluorescence detectors) and features sophisticated data handling capabilities and networking options. Acquisition of this equipment will significantly advance basic and applied research areas in which Bangor has an international reputation. For example crustacean endocrinology, marine ecology, plant physiology, bacterial catabolism of aromatics, and will foster and engender exploitation of new areas of interdisciplinary research within the School and other Universities.
