Abstract

Laser microdissection techniques may now be used to isolate single cells from heterogeneous tissues. This proposal aims to provide a shared facility for this, that will be employed by research groups based at Southampton and Sussex, involved in functional genomics of the invertebrate nervous system. This will facilitate currently funded BBSRC projects at these institutes by providing access to single cell dissection and analysis. Samples will be prepared for DNA microarray and for MALDI-TOF mass spectrophotometry. The studies proposed will underpin ongoing collaborative research projects and provide the opportunity to develop new areas.
