Abstract

Conventional and stopped-flow fluorescence are being used to study a variety of problems in protein structure and function including: fluorescence energy transfer studies of the structure of Ca-ATPase and phospholamban; fluorescence quenching studies of simple alpha-helical peptides in lipid bilayers; structural studies of porins in lipid bilayers; structural studies of C2 domains of protein kinases and binding of sPLA2 to bilayers; rapid kinetic studies of binding of C2 domains and sPLA2 to lipid bilayers; rapid kinetic studies of the mechanism of diacylglycerol kinase; the binding of metal ions to inositol monophosphatase from mammalian brain; binding of fatty acids to fatty acid binding protein; the interaction between novel bacterial immunoglobulin-binding domains and immunoglobulins; the action of chaperonins; folding/unfolding pathways of proteins.
