Abstract

This application is for a contribution to funds to purchase a bench top MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer. The equipment will be used primarily for: 1). the characterisation and analysis of proteins, particularly chemically modified and post translationally modified proteins and over-expressed recombinant proteins; 2). peptide mapping as a means of identifying proteins and locating modification sites; 3). the characterisation and analysis of synthetic peptides and nucleotides; and 4). the characterisation and analysis of metabolic intermediates and rationally designed enzyme inhibitors.
