Abstract

This proposal is for a Packard TopCount NXT Microplate Scintillation and Luminescence Counter. The equipment is requested on behalf of a number of research groups within the Dept. of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and will support research projects of international standing including: 1). C5a receptor studies and structure/function studies on tetraspanins; 2). catalytic antibodies for prodrug therapy; 3). structure/function studies on IgE and the high affinity IgE receptor; 4). assembly and secretion of lipoproteins; 5). regulation of photosynthesis; 6). studies on metabolism of the pathogen H. pylori; 7). cell wall structure of S. aureus; and 8). microbial respiration and metal-microbe interaction.
