Abstract

The aim is to facilitate research on quantitative aspects of plant gene expression. The Storm 860 will be used for analysis of Southern, Northern and Western blots, and DNA micro-arrays in a number of projects. These will include studies on (1) the influence of the enhancer element from the pea plastocyanin gene on the chromatin structure of adjacent genes in transgenic tobacco, (2) the expression and function of glutamate receptor homologues in Arabidopsis, (3) the induction of ferrochelatase and haemoprotein expression by wounding and virus infection in Arabidopsis and (4) chloroplast gene expression during early seedling development that is necessary for the control of nuclear photosynthesis gene expression.
