Abstract

A series of pharmacokinetic/drug delivery projects, all requiring LC-MS/MS capability with high throughput technology, will be undertaken. Specifically, these are: 1). prediction of hepatic drug metabolism in vivo from in vitro data on drugs and their metabolites; 2). prediction of pharmacokinetic properties from physiochemical and structural information; 3). regional distribution and functional relevance of efflux transporters and cytochrome P450 3A4 as modulators of intestinal drug absorption; 4). pharmacokinetic studies on the delivery of therapeutic genes and proteins; 5). development of a bioreductive drug technology platform for the treatment of ischaemic diseases; and 6). pharmacokinetic and metabolic studies with novel anti-tumour compounds.
