Abstract

The objectives of this research are to: i) understand the critical image cues used by identified range-sensitive neurones in the locust visual system and investigate the receptive field organisation generating the tuning to specific aspects of the stimulus; ii) incorporate these features into neural networks to generate a multi-competent range signalling system; iii) integrate the output of the multi-competent network into the control structure used in path planning of a fast mobile robot.
