Abstract

The aim is to identify components of the signal transduction pathway from chloroplasts to the nucleus of higher plants responsible for the expression of nuclear genes encoding photosynthesis proteins. The approach will use microinjection of putative components and antagonists of the pathway into mesophyll cells of norflurazon- and tagetitoxin- treated transgenic tobacco seedlings containing the beta-glucuronidase GUS reporter gene fused to promoters of nuclear genes encoding various photosynthetic proteins.
