Abstract
We have cloned an Arabidopsis gene that encodes a homologue of the superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), and have preliminary evidence that this GPCR is a receptor for the plant hormone cytokinin. This proposal aims to (1) test the hypothesis that AtGCR1 is a cytokinin receptor, (year 1). (2) investigate interactions between AtGCR1 and GPA1, (year 1-2). (3) study AtGCR1 desensitisation/sensitisation mechanisms, (year 2-3). (4) identify and characterise genes regulated by AtGCR1 (year 3) and (5) develop and test a model for integration in G protein signalling-response pathways in plants (year 1-3).
