Abstract

To investigate the mechanism by which inositol 1,3,4,5-tetrakisphosphate (InsP4) binds to its recently identified putative InsP4 receptor; GAP1 IP4BP. Experimentally we propose to study the physical requirements within the InsP4 moiety that are necessary for recognition and activation of the receptor. Furthermore we intend to identify and analyse the three dimensional structure of the InsP4-binding domain that allows isomerically specific, high affinity InsP4 binding.
