Abstract

We aim to develop a set of generic ecological models to study population establishment, population growth rate, persistence time and prevalence of genetically modified plant lines. The models will upscale the individual life history characteristics of the plant to the dynamics of entire populations. Both deterministic and stochastic models will be developed. Data available at Rothamsted Experimental Station and Broom's Barn will be used to parameterise the models for oilseed rape and sugar beet. The ecological consequences of transgene induced life history changes for weedy and feral populations is quantified.
