Abstract

The work described in this proposal will localise QTL influencing growth and carcass traits in cattle using the Roslin Holstein x Charolais resource herd established, in part, through the PAGA programme. Funding requested is for measuring specific traits associated with growth and conformation, genotyping the F2 individuals and analysis of results to identify the QTL. Support for the maintenance of the herd and breeding costs will be met through a MAFF LINK programme with support from the Meat and Livestock Commission and the Milk Development Council.
