Abstract

Expression of the HrpL extracytoplasmic sigma factor required for virulence of Pseudomonas syringae depends on two AAA+ proteins (mechanochemical proteins that use ATP hydrolysis to remodel their substrates), HrpR and HrpS. We plan to determine using both in vivo and in vitro techniques how co-dependence is achieved, and negatively regulated by the sensor protein HrpV.
