Abstract

All organisms must be able to adapt to changes in their external environment. Whilst much is known regarding the changes in gene expression:transcription which underlie these adaptive responses, little is known regarding the roles of post-transcriptional control mechanisms. This proposal describes an integral post-genomic approach to analyse these regulatory mechanisms in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. These studies will lead to a more complete understanding of how cells change in their protein content to survive adverse conditions.
