Abstract
The AAA+ transcription activator protein PSPF remodels a basal transcription complex (sigma54 and promoter DNA) to increase transcription. To do so, it must hydrolyse ATP. We plan to study the organisation and functional interaction of the basal complex with activator. We will examine the significance of DNA-interactions made by a form of activator lacking its specific DNA-binding domain and explore how the basal complex stimulates ATP hydrolysis by activator.
