Abstract
This project will construct HSV-1 viral vectors carrying genes for matrix metalloproteases and/or chondroitinase. It will also test the ability of the vectors to produce expression of these genes in CNS neurons and investigate the effects of gene delivery on the ability of infected neurons to regenerate their axons in the spinal cord in vivo.
