Abstract

Chicken embryos and the hyper-recombinogenic chicken B cell line, DT40, offer enormous potential for the analysis of the function of vertebrate genes involved in developmental, morphogenetic and cell autonomous processes. Much of this type of analysis is currently carried out using mouse embryos and thus full exploitation of the potential of chicken systems may reduce the number of experiments carried out using mice. The purpose of the proposal is to fund an EST sequencing project and meeting that will allow the potential of the chicken systems to be realised and will encourage others to use chick based systems.
