Abstract

We are currently exploiting whole-genome microarrays to define specific changes in mRNA levels during pseudohyphal development in S. cerevisiae. In this project we will perform parallel analyses of the yeast proteome. Our specific objectives are (a) correlate specific changes in the yeast proteome and transcriptome during pseudohyphal development, (b) classify pseudohyphally regulated genes in terms of their regulatory profiles and functional characteristics, and (c) establish the roles of key signalling pathways in the control of gene expression during pseudohyphal development. In this way we will perform one of the first whole genome comparisons of developmental changes at the mRNA and protein levels to generate a comprehensive picture of gene regulation during cellular morphogenesis in yeast.
