Abstract

The project is aimed at relating the genetical map to the karyotype of the important crop plant species, Brassica oleracea, capitalising on the synteny with Arabidopsis. The project is designed to achieve three goals. (i) To assign the specific genetic linkage groups to the karyotype of Brassica oleracea. (ii) To understand the relationship between ordered loci on a well characterised Brassica linkage group and the physical distribution at high resolution along spread chromosomes. (iii) To understand the relationship between the detailed alignment of loci ordered on an Arabidopsis chromosome in relation to their physical organisation on the B. oleracea karyotype.
