Abstract
Two members of the C6 zinc cluster family of transcriptional activator proteins, PUT3 and PPR1, will be analysed both biochemically and genetically to determine the mechanisms by which their transcriptional activity is modulated. The interactions between the activator and inducer molecules and/or repressors will be mapped at high resolution to understand the processes involved in this type of transcriptional control. Such analysis will not only yield a detailed understanding of the processes of transcriptional regulation in two defined, interesting, and tractable experimental systems, but will also lead to a better understanding of the general processes of transcriptional activation and repression themselves.
