Abstract
Dominant-interfering mutants of two regulatory GTPases will be used to inhibit vesicle traffic to the Golgi apparatus in transgenic Arabidopsis. These plants will allow us to test specific hypotheses about the control of endomembrane organisation, cell growth, and morphogenesis in embryos and root tips. To facilitate this work we will first establish a novel steroid-inducible transcription factor system for controlling trans-gene expression in whole plants. This system will also be applicable to many other problems in plant science and biotechnology.
