Abstract
We will exploit efficient genetic procedures which we have evolved, based upon induced mosaics, allowing us to select new mutations affecting insect epithelial patterning. Mutations in several important transduction pathways cause characteristic abnormalities in patterning. Our goal is a complete inventory and functional 'network' account of this developmental system. The position of each gene in this network relative to known genes in these pathways will be assayed by specific genetic and molecular biological criteria. We have set up explicit collaborative arrangements to utilise these products efficiently.
