Abstract
The genetic control of mycelial growth will be investigated by studying a series of hyperbranching (hbr) mutants isolated in Aspergillus nidulans. The mutants will be fully characterised with respect to branching frequency, septation, actin localisation, genetic locus affected, and interaction of affected genes with other genes of related function. One or more hbr genes will be isolated and characterised, and the effects of deletion and overexpression of the gene(s) on mycelial morphology will be examined.
