Abstract

1. Determine how the hybrid zone between Heliconius erato and H. himera depends on physical conditions and specific biotic adaptations. 2. Determine the genetics of reproductive incompatibility between the hybridising forms. 3. Determine whether non-random mating occurs in the hybrid zone. 4. Find molecular and biochemical markers for the two species. 5. Construct a phylogeny of H. erato and related Heliconius.
