Abstract

Cyclin dependent kinases have key roles in several cellular processes, particularly in controlling the cell division cycle. However these kinases are catalytically inactive unless associated with their specific regulatory subunit or cyclin. This proposal will create a Linked Research Group to analyse the interactions and roles of kinases and cyclins isolated by groups at IPSR and Institute of Biotechnology, Cambridge. As well as combining the different clones, the two groups are highly complementary in their background and expertise, allowing a unique combined biochemical and cell biological approach to be applied to the analysis of these important molecules in plants, about which little is currently known.
