Abstract
(a) To determine whether reversible phosphorylation is involved in the transcriptional regulation of the qut gene cluster. (a) To test the hypothesis that the AREA protein is homologous to the tri-domain beta subunit of the anthranilate synthase complex. (b) To determine whether the QUTH protein has a role to play in the transcriptional regulation of the qut gene cluster. (c) To determine whether the N-terminal DHQ synthase-like domain of the QUTA protein has a similar shape to the AROM enzyme DHQ synthase domain.
