Abstract

(i) Using PCR primers designed from the emerging Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) genome sequence, whole-genome gene arrays will be produced, made available to the community, and their use (in terms of linearity and specificity) validated for the analysis of the transcriptome; (ii) a proteome map of the organism will be produced and validated; (iii) a suite of bioinformatic tools will be developed and made available for extracting biologically meaningful data from the proteome and transcriptome, which will be linked to the annotated genome database being produced at the Sanger Centre; and (iv) the transcriptome and proteome of a variety of mutant strains will be analysed and of the wild type during the transition to methylenomycin production in batch culture and during sporulation.
