Abstract

We aim to facilitate data-mining of pathogen genome sequences by academic bacteriologists so as to drive hypothesis-led research. We intend to build on our existing work to create a web-based resource to allow the user to initiate, examine and follow up on results of analyses performed on the genome sequences of bacterial pathogens. We will provide a means of distributed interactive annotation of genome sequences and a high-quality online hypertext-referenced source of information on the molecular aspects of virulence for selected bacterial pathogens. The project will be written in Perl and C++ and presented via HTML JAVA, and XML. The database will run on a free SQL server on the LINUX platform.
