Abstract

To define the anatomical and molecular sequence of events during development of the endodermal components of the head, and the respective contributions of ectodermal stomodaeum and endodermal foregut to the oral and pharyngeal cavities. To define the extent to which isolated facial epithelia can undergo normal development outside of their normal anatomical context, both at the anatomical and molecular level. Overall, to develop a research program into the role of the endodermin head development, a crucially important yet almost completely neglected tissue.
