Abstract

The transitions of the primary shoot apical meristem, axillary meristems and cambium into and out of dormancy represent pivotal events in the development of the shoot system and are of major agronomic importance. Each of the participants in this project has studied particular examples of these transitions, contributing to current models for the regulation of the transitions. Both similarities and differences between the various systems have been identified. This project will bring together the expertise and resources developed in the participating labs, the new tools of functional genomics, and the user community, to allow a better understanding and better control of shoot meristem dormancy. (Joint with grants 233/EGA16203 and 43/EGA16204).
