Abstract

This 19-month study combines the computing, smart card and catering expertise of the industrial partners with the nutritional, social science and public health expertise of the academic partners. The project (based in a school cafeteria) has three aims: 1). to create a smart card system for measuring individual food choice; 2). to validate the smart card data by empirically collecting data over 200 meals; and 3). to formulate a best practice protocol for using a smart card system in nutritional interventions.
