Abstract

Neutron scattering studies (neutron reflectivity and small angle neutron scattering) will be performed exploiting the technique of contrast variation to study the interaction of the cationic polymer, chitosan, used to produce gene vectors, with DNA and artificial membranes mimicking those of cell membranes. The detailed structural information resulting from these studies will be used to aid in the rationale design of improved gene vectors.
