Abstract

Development of protocols for the generation of new approaches to cell and growth factor delivery will have fundamental therapeutic implications for bone repair and in a number of tissue engineering applications. We propose a unique multidisciplinary approach to develop a facile method for the synthesis of porous biological ceramic microspheres. The microspheres will be fabricated into larger scale structures with complex forms seen in nature and with structural properties similar to natural bone. The generation of such conduits has significant healthcare implications in bone and other tissue engineering applications.
