Abstract
The aim of the project is to exploit our breakthrough finding that electrospray ionisation mass spectra may be obtained from intact microorganisms. The main objectives will be (i) to optimise the signal to noise and reproducibility of MS-spectra, (ii) establishing the biochemical source of the major peaks from bacteria, (iii) applying the method to the fine discrimination of bacteria.
