Abstract
To extend Gepasi, an existing metabolic simulator written in Aberystwyth and which allows the rational optimisation of metabolic fluxes, in the following ways: 1. development of a front-end where spatially heterogeneous systems can be specified in a user-friendly way; 2. the introduction of algorithms to deal with systems of partial differential equations; 3. inclusion of the volume of compartments as a variable, and the introduction of algorithms to deal with cell growth and division; 4. the introductions of networking algorithms to distribute the processing among a pool of computers and to apply it to a variety of systems of biotechnological interest.
