Abstract

The interaction between spatiotemporal variation (STV) in disease and pesticide residues is a critical factor in disease control. The STV of diseases is well researched. However, a multi-scale investigation of the STV of pesticide residues has not been made, despite the large variability found at single scales. An experimental program and modelling will be used to test hypotheses about the most important scales of STV of residues, and important factors driving STV. This will result in validated models for the prediction of residues, with confidence limits, which offer a new approach for the optimisation of pesticide inputs.
