Abstract
This programme will provide and integrate new perspectives in the interactions between plant viruses, aphid vectors and their parasitoids, by investigating: 1) manipulation of vector biology by viruses with different modes of transmission (evolutionary and ecological perspectives); 2) the plant-mediated mechanisms, especially changes in plant volatile profiles following virus infection (mechanistic perspectives); and 3) the influence of plant viruses on interactions between parasitoids and their aphid hosts, and the evolution of parasitoid-mediated viral adaptations (tritrophic perspectives).
