Abstract
Using an individual-based approach we will investigate the spatio-temporal dynamics of a model predator-prey (Pterostichus melanarius-Sitobion avenae-Metopolophium dirhodum) system to enhance our understanding of biocontrol and Integrated Crop Management. Following field data collection based on mark-release-recapture using a newly developed laser-marking technique we will analyse these data firstly at the individual level and secondly by scaling up to a field-scale population. Analysis will combine SADIE (Spatial Analysis by Distance Indices) and mark-release-recapture. Using a conceptual model we will quantify fundamental transient spatio-temporal processes that mediate predator-prey interactions. (Joint with grant 206/D16897).
