Abstract

A key question in the field of body weight control, a rapidly moving subject in Neuroscience today is how short-term satiety factors, that regulate meal size, can influence longer-term energy balance. We propose that the newly discovered prolactin-releasing peptide, PrRP, may fulfil part of this role by affecting food intake and other metabolic parameters. It is ideally placed in the brainstem and hypothalamus to integrate information concerning energy intake with other endocrine factors controlling body weight.
