Abstract
This proposal aims to produce a MUTATOR-AFLP grid from maize. The grid will allow rapid and inexpensive identification of EST function in any developmental process, and will be a valuable resource which could be made available to all UK plant scientists. We will test the grid by identifying mutations in EST's associated with seed embryogenesis/germination. Plants carrying mutations will be analyzed using molecular and genetic approaches to analyze the function of the tagged EST's.
