Abstract
A range of trehalose and sucrose analogues and derivatives will be enzymically synthesised using reversal of glycosidase enzymes. Enzymes in solution and immobilised in enzyme reactors will be used as appropriate. In particular, mannosyl and glucosyl derivatives of trehalose and sucrose and mannosyl analogues of both disaccharides will be synthesised. Selected oligosaccharide products will then be synthesised and purified on a preparative scale. The products will be used in other research programmes at Reading and at IFR in Norwich.
