Abstract

This proposal is for continuation of a Link Research Group. Theory for predicting selection response and variation maintained in quantitative traits in finite populations by mutation is to be developed, and estimates of loss of variation by selection and drift and gain by mutation to be obtained. Lines of mice selected for traits of growth are to be continued, and used for analysis at the physiological, cellular and molecular level to increase understanding of the genetic basis of control of growth, body composition and food intake.
