Abstract

The aim of this project is to exploit additional developments from a highly successful programme, SEMIOCHEM, under LINK CIMNFC, that established the basis for commercial production and formulation of a specific isomer (4aS, 7S, 7aR) of nepetalactone from the catmint, Nepeta cataria, grown as a non-food arable crop. The project will focus on the identification of other nepetalactone isomers, too address several specific problems 1) lacewing and other aphid predator attractants for aphid control 2) improving biological control of aphids under glass 3) repellents for beneficial insects 4) repellents for houseflies, mosquitoes and cockroaches 5) cat repellents 6) mite and tick control and 7) registration of aphid sex pheromone components.
