Abstract

A novel receptor-regulated Ca channel will be studied. Homologues from mammalian cell systems will be cloned and analysed. The intact protein and constituent domains will be expressed, in native and mutant forms and their structures and functions investigated with respect to transport properties, intra- and inter-domain association, interaction with cytoskeletal elements, binding of regulatory proteins and second messengers and biological modification. The project may identify an important missing mammalian protein and establish new approaches to channel structure/function analysis.
