Abstract

Amongst the epitopes exposed on cell surfaces will be those important in cell-cell interactions, such as those that occur during pathogen-host interaction. Antibodies against surface epitopes of Phytophthora germlings will be selected from a phage-displayed immune repertoire. Individual antibodies will be characterised and screened for effects on Phytophthora and on its interactions with its host. This may lead to development of novel resistance strategies and to the identification of pathogenesis factors/targets for chemical control.
