Abstract

To exploit by the technique of electron crystallography recent successes in obtaining good 2D crystals of biochemically characterised sub-cores and dimeric cores of photosystem two (PSII) with the overall objective of producing an atomic map of the 3-D structure of the reaction centre of PSII and the associated proteins, particularly the antenna CP43 and CP47. To relate the structure information with the energy transfer, charge separation and oxygen evolving functions of PSII.
