Abstract

Recent studies of this laboratory have revealed that proteins are transported across the chloroplast thylakoid membrane by two distinct protein translocases. The aims of the project are: (i) to isolate Chlamydomonas reinhardtii mutants defective in each translocation mechanism, (ii) to carry out in vivo and in vitro analyses of the translocation mutants, and (iii) to clone components of the translocation mutants machinery by complementation of mutants.
