Abstract
To characterise the mechanisms of blue-light-activation of the Myxococcus xanthus carotenoid regulon. 1) Raise antibodies to the novel regulatory protein CarS. 2) Combined genetic and biochemical dissection of the molecular basis of activation of genes by CarS. 3) Use of antibodies against CarQ and CarR to characterise a proposed antenna complex in the membrane. 4) Further genetic dissection of the antenna complex.
