Abstract
1. To clone, sequence and overexpress the genes for pantothenate synthesis enzymes in E. coli. 2. To characterise the overexpressed proteins, including some mechanistic studies. 3. To develop a biotransformation system, by overexpressing all four enzymes in the same cell as a means of overproducing pantothenate, vitamin B3. 4. To investigate the pantothenate synthesis pathway in higher plants.1.
